We accept Nominations from DCFS Caseworkers and organizations which wrap their arms around the individuals we seek to help.
We want all of our recipients to have the means to own a vehicle and to have the determination to better their opportunities through education and employment. The recipient must show us how they will be able to afford insurance, maintenance and fuel and they must pay for the transfer costs.
It was quite a Happy Birthday for this young lady! Gift-A-Lift was able to purchase and donate this 2014 Honda to her, thanks to the generosity of a group of women who are helping her to stay focused on a bright future! She has her sights on becoming a Radiologist. The car makes getting to school and a job possible.
Thanks to Eddie Tourelle's Northpark Nissan this young lady now has the wheels to help her follow her dreams. She is a sophomore at Southeastern Louisiana University, majoring in Criminal Justice so she can help others! This car will let her get an off-campus job and take advantage of internship opportunities - things that were out of her reach without transportation. Thanks also to her DCFS E
One happy young man! Even though this car is 20 plus years old, it is reliable and safe. And it lets him get to school and work, as it did for a few siblings after being their mom's car. Imagine living in our area without a vehicle to get you around!
With a little one on the way, this young lady really needed wheels! Thanks to a family for providing their late mother's vehicle, she got one! Supreme Toyota of Hammond was a great help in checking out the car and making repairs. And Rare Reflections Auto Spa cleaned the car to sparkling!
This young man was living in a very rural area north of Slidell. Having a vehicle opened up his work possibilities and gave him the ability to get to classes at Northshore Technical and Community College. Thanks to Greer Equipment, Inc., for their generous donation in 2020!
Our first donated car went to a great young lady in January 2020. When her family fell apart, her younger brothers went into foster care. She was a senior in highschool and chose to live with a friend. She was working at McDonalds, thanks to rides from her friend's family. She really wanted to go to college. The car enabled her to get a better job, go to school, and get her own place to live
In addition, they must:

To help a young adult realize that dream of owning a vehicle, please download our nomination form and email it to info@gift-a-lift.org.
